hey trail. just letting you know that my 8800GT gets 90+ fps (and i get triple digits too) in TF2 and css is even more, cod4 is very nice also. i dunno what 30 fps looks like that you are getting now but i must say that my last rig got me like 10 fps and sometimes less in css and the upgrade was awesome. id be tempted to wait til you build if you can handle the gameplay you are getting now. if its making it tough to compete then do it now...try to wait.

Re: 7800gt in SLI ------>8800gt or gts, is it worth it?
Well I broke into the bank and bought a evga 8800gt last night. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130319 (Wow it was actually cheaper by $20 last night) I should see it in the next few days from newegg. I was really looking hard at the 9600gt for about $40 less but thought, what the heck. Toms hardware results were a bit better with the 8800gt and it is the G92 processor too, it handles some of the games better. I did not go with the 8800gts because I did not see any significant differences in performance based on lots of test results. It is about $30 more than the 8800gt.
So I picked the middle road. I am going to download 3dmark06 tonight and run it with my sli configuration and then when I get the 8800gt, I will run it and see if there is much difference. I will also run fraps in game and let you all know the difference.
I just could not hold out anymore, it just seemed as if I was loosing a lot of battles because of the jitter and bouncing around in game.
Thanks for the advice everyone.

At this point, Any of the G92 based cards (8800 GT/GTS 9600 GT, 9800 GTX) are a good buy. Holding out for the next big thing is pointless because both AMD and nVidia have a ew chip every 12 months and product refreshes every 6 months.
Anymore, whatever you buy will likely be obsolete almost immediately anyways. Buy when you have the cash.

I did notice that cecil, it is more efficient and it was a big consideration. This puter is starting to get out of date and a few watts will not matter for the time being, so it needs all it can get for performance to take the load off the cpu. I will definetly look at the 9 series or whatever the series is at the time that I go and build the beast.
Thanks for your advice, it did help out.
