    Another minor problem...

Everyonce in awhile, in CS:S, my mouse geeks and sends my crosshairs into the ground or up in the sky and my character will start spinning out of control until I move my mouse again. Thought maybe something was on the fiber optics but I cleaned it. Any ideas? I use a standard 2 button and wheel mouse.

What mouse are you using? Some of them are pretty much garbage for gaming.

Standard Hewitt Packer mouse. It's old, and that's what I'm starting to think the problem is. So old in fact, it has my fingers have rubbed off the paint on my buttons, leaving evidence of where I put my fingers exactly on the mouse

What is the model of your mouse?

I would say that if its an optic or laser mouse, the mouse pad could be the issue.

I had the same problem with a laser mouse. Do you use it on a mouse pad or just the surface of the desk? I use mine on the desk and i thought it was reflecting the light back to itself, or something along those lines. I banged it allot on the desk also back in the early days when i got killed allot. Got killed enough because of it so i went back to a regular ball mouse. Was going to get a high dpi mouse but damn, it is way to fast for me and what im used to. I would suggest switching mouse, that one will never stop doing what it is doing.

Two thoughts here: 1) if it's Optical, make sure the little nook where the light comes out is completely free of debris, it tends to build up in there and fucks up the tracking pretty awful. 2) You may need to use a different mousing surface.

Also, my w,s,a,f buttons are almost completely faded as well
