the Asus M2N is a good board. If you're keepingyour AM2, then I'd go with that.

And these clowns with the "omg get a 775".......shit......get a phenom for that AM2 socket, and start smoking 775's.
I also think that the AMD Quad-Cores only work on AM2+ mobo's, not AM2.

im an AMD fan too, but your guard down haha. I was simply stating that they don't OC well , just in case you were thinking you were going to make it fly.

and yeah they only run on AM2+ boards.

Not true.. I just read a review on that mobo on newegg.. And the guy posted that it supports his Phenom. Go to this link and scroll down. Am I seeing this wrong?

This is just an AM2 board, not an AM2+

    Re: Help a fool out

Sorry for dragging all this out. I just want to make sure that the mobo I get, that I'll be able to upgrade processors later. Which is kinda why I'm interested in the AM2+ boards. If I get a AM2 board such as the one I posted about above, which supposedly supports Phenom's... That would be cool. So should I get an AM2+ or AM2.

    Fucking confusing.

I was under the impression the AM2+ are for upgrading and physically have 2 dual-core cpu's. I was pretty certain the phenom is only supported by AM2+ boards, but if an AM2 mobo can run them then there's no point in you getting a AM2+ mobo.

See, thats what I'm saying... but I don't want to get that AM2 board and end up not being able to throw in a newer processor, such as the phenom quad-core.

    Re: Help a fool out

Here, these are all the AM2+ mobo's that match up with my RAM specs which is DDR2 800.

Now which one should I get? I don't want to spend more than $100 (I know, I'm a cheap ass.. just remember I'm also buying the 8800GT 512mb)

AM2 board is for dual cores only. AM2+ is if you want to use 2 dual core cpu's = 4 cores. or a quad cpu.

which means you can have an am2+ board and just use a dual core now if you wanted, or use quad core.

but not vica versa, you cant fit 2 dual cores on an AM2 board, and you cant fit a quad core.

    Re: Help a fool out

Ok, I'm pretty sure I am going to go with this board:

    ASUS M2N-SLI AM2
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131246

Only thing I'm worried about is this guy said his Zalman 9500 heatsink BARELY fit this board. I have a Zalman 9700 heatsink. Think I will run into problems?

    His dimensions: 85 x 112 x 125mm http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...n%2b9500%2bAM2

    my dimension: 110mm
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835118020

That's all it gives me. Mother fucker.
