personally I have had 2 abit boards, they run pretty smooth for the most part sometimes the north bridge got a little hot.

with a decent case and some good fans you wont have any problems.

The phenom quads will run on an AM2 socket. You just wont have access to its special power saving functions or HT 3.0.

Or at least I thought I had read that somewhere...

I ammend this though by noting some research led me to understand that many lower end and older AM2 boards never got new BIOS updates to support the newer phenoms. But a solid Mobo like my Asus M2N32 will take it just fine. But AMD stated they were going to make the AM2+ and AM3 platforms backwards compatible to the AM2 socket.

Apparently the upcoming B3 phenom will not be supported by current AM2 mobos...

    Re: Help a fool out

Well this is what I'm going to get, this is my final decision.. After discussing with good ole Jinx.

Mobo: ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail

    $129

    Graphics: EVGA 512-P3-N801-AR GeForce 8800GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI

    $189 w/ $30 mail in rebate

    TOTAL: $327 w/ shipping

Ordering this probably Sunday. Leaves me with roughly $193 to live on for 2 weeks. I think I'll make it.
