Nobody said anything on dropping another 1-5k on his rig sucka.

    Q6600/9600gt/P5N-D LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 750i = $524

oooooh yea spaz thats so much money. If that was e-peen nonsense I would hate to see what you would recomend for a non e-peen rig.
You gonna suggest a e-machine from wally world?

    Re: Chew on This!!

Overclocking does make a difference. I get better FPS in Crysis and out of Unreal 3 engine games, such as BioShock... especially when I am using DX10.

As for the difference between dual and quad... really, not many games are utilizing quad cores right now. An E6850 will more than likely out perform an Q6600 or Q6700 because of the high bus speed it utilizes. But that is "most" games. More games are being released that utilize multithreaded code.

Bottom line is, you should be getting a higher score. Less than 10k with your setup is not...

The key to overclocking is to keep it stable and keep it cool. Sort of like buying aftermarket parts for your car. You can get the added horsepower but need to keep it cool at the same time.

My recommendation is to purchase a good CPU cooler (Thermalite Ultra120 Extreme or ASUS Silent Knight). Keep this puppy cool and increase the clock speed.

Hey... I'd pimp out an E-Machine. Don't under estimate the power of the E. hahaha.

Dude, smoke... My current rig is AGP, not even PCI x16. I pull 5077 3D Marks.. I don't want to hear it.

But, the good news is... I saved a lot of money on car insurance by switching to Geico.

hahaha jk, I am buying a new mobo and graphics card.. which should push my score over 10K.

Question smoke... Do you run Vista or XP? Reason I ask is, Bigdog was having the same kinda problems with his. He just recently bought Vista and his 3DMarks went down.

    XP ftw!

I think my Vista score was actually higher because I used that memory boost crap with my 4 gig jump drive. I don't remember for sure how much higher though.

XP, is what he set me up on. Now spaz i think i will be pleased as pie with the comp and wont talk specifics till ive played on the thing for while, he shipped it two days ago.

Now the only thing that i am slightly concerned about is the 3d marks.

If this is a good sign of the computers current overall status; how the parts are getting along and sync ing, how the setup of drivers and such is correct, all of these things.

If you have a legit reason other than speculation that she should be getting higher 3D marks then lets talk.

Im sure ill be happy and im sure ill be pleased, however with the money spent, any hitch in her giddy up, no matter how small the hitch is i want to work out.

I am not looking for specific marks or stats i just want the stats and marks that my setup should be running based on others with the same setup.

    Capiche!

As long as the gaming performance is fine, then who cares about your 3DMark score. Now if your in-game performance suffers, then the 3DMark score could be indicative of a configuration issue.

    I run
    8800 GTS w/640 mb ram
    E6600 Core 2 Duo
2 gigs of crucial ballistix ram

I run everything at a resolution of 1600x1050 with all settings on high (CSS, DoD:S. TF2, BF2, COD4, along with a various amount of other games non ttp hosted) and my games run perfectly smooth. Sure your 3d marks aren't rivaling that of Jesus Christ's computer, but what you have will more than make your gaming experience exceptional. I almost want to say the extra $200 dollars you could have spent to boost your 3dmark scores wouldnt really be worth it at the moment.
