I've been running the Firefox 3 Beta/RC for a while now. MUCH lower memory utilization. With 4 tabs open, I'm only using about 65 megs.

2Gb should be sufficient. I have not seen an "out of RAM" message in a looooong time bcause of virtual memory. Did you get a warning about "Virtual Memory is low" or anything?

That is strange... my computer at work is Vista 64 with 2Gb and I played BF2 on it and run some pretty big productivity apps and I have never gotten a low memory error.

Really, it might not be as fast at loading and map changing as a machine with 4Gb, but it should not say you are out of RAM. really wierd man... dont know what to say...

Ok put it this way, do you have a videocard with some type of GDDR RAM on it? I.E an 8800 GT with 512 MB GDDR3 RAM.

I think some laptops use shared memory.

Thats with a E6850 @ 3.0 and a 8800GTS 512MB slightly OC'd with 3 gigs of ballistix 2x's 1 gig and 2x's 512 sticks. You sure your mobo is running your ram at 800mhz and at 2.2 volts at what i think the norm is for ballistix? Check that and your timings.
