2 Gigs of RAM/Vista

I keep getting messages saying im out of RAM when im browsing the web and listening to music. Is this a problem with vista or my RAM? (Vista Home Premium 64)

Are you sure it's just talking about the RAM? 2GB should be fine with Vista if all you are doing is listening to music and browsing the web.

Have you turned off the Sidebar? I know that uses up a good portion of RAM if you leave it on.

I've been wanting to post this screenshot I took. I wanted to see how much RAM 2142 was taking up, so I alt tabbed and turned on my taskmanager so it could record usage.

2 gigs....considering vista itself is going to gobble up 500mb or so.....is not enough RAM. I just bought 2 1gig sticks, to increase my RAM to 3gigs. Hopefully it will help open/closing 2142....since I know bumping up to 1.5 and 2gigs on XP did so.

My sidebar is turned off all the time. I have troubles running 2142 on vista, i think it is my RAM. I may get some more RAM if I get the money.

Still...if you are running minimal applications it should not be using 2GB of RAM...

What are you using to play your music?

From what I've read, you need at least 4 gigs to run Vista 64 smooth.

I don't think you need 4 Gigs to run it smooth, but it won't hurt to say the least.

It might just be Real Player. I've never been a fan of Real Player though so I can't really say as I haven't used it in years.
