Just a couple questions..

1. What would the difference be for the casual user?

2. Would I have to do some sort of uninstall process for IE to get firefox?

3. I have heard lots of people say"this or that doesn't work with firefox.....but its still better"...have they resolved a lot of issues with this new version?

4.Is it worth the hassle when I haven't had any problems with IE?

Not trying to start a IE vs. Firefox flame war,I just don't know anything about Firefox and haven't had any problems with IE,but I'm always looking to improve.I seem to have a knac for keeping my finger on the pulse of what happened 5 years ago.

i dont want a flame war in this thread either. so, for #2 above, the answer is no. you can run it along side of IE, and decide what you like/dislike about it. and for #4 above, it's no hassle. simply double-click the installer, and click 4-5 more times through the wizard. it will even import your settings from IE (although it didn't remember me on igoogle, or this site, so i don't think that the cookie imports work all that well).

As for those extensions that haven't been updated for compatibility checking, I've used most of the betas and RC1 and RC2 - didn't get RC3 and all of the 14 extensions I use daily worked just fine after I disabled compatibility checking. Here is how to do that.

Type about:config into Firefox's address bar
Right-click anywhere. Choose New>Boolean
Make the name of your new config value extensions.checkCompatibility and set it to false

Cool! Thanks! I think I will give it a try. I'm sorta computarded,so delving into the unknown makes me a little nervous.But if its better and free,then its me!

Apparently I hate the latest beta installed, so the cosmetics looked exactly the same. If anything better has come out of the real release, I haven't encountered it yet.
