About damn time.

I wonder if ATI will get into GPUs as Generic Processing Units like the Nvidia Tessla line. As a scientist wannabe I am really excited about that stuff and hope some competition can make them even better. A new era for Systems Science (although systems science is a new era for science already).

nvida and ATI are both great cards at thier certains times. However, I have noticed most ATI cards run super hot. This leads me to believe ATI clocks their cards higher than they should to keep up with Nvidia.

4850 and 4870 are killer cards. For 170 bux the 4850 is a killer card. Good to have some competition. If Ati goes under Nvidia will have no reason to do anything so if you're on the fence I'd say get an Ati.

Too bad they do not have the 4870 in crossfire or the 4870 X2, or the X2 in crossfire on that chart. Must have been made right before the X2 came out.

I read in several places (see the ATi vs. nVidia non-sticky thread for links) that the 4870 in crossfire, and the 4870 X2 is beating even the triple SLI 280 GTX. http://www.texasteamplayers.com/inde...8704#msg588704
