    Asus Radeon HD 4850 512MB PCI-Express Video Card $150 After $30MIR

    http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?t=854360

    This seems like a damn good deal although I am fairly happy with my 8800GT. Anybody have any benchmarks showing the difference between these two cards?

    I may wait one more generation to upgrade again... this 8800GT is less than a year old and I used to only upgrade once every TWO years... I already broke my own rule by getting this one so soon.

    EDIT: Coupon may be expiring in 10 minutes...

    It gets beat by the 8800 GTS 512 at some resolution on 3dmark.

    Not just the site you are posting but others as well.
    It bothers me that some times sites like toms or any other high rep site does benchs on crap games that dont matter.
    Prime example benching F.E.A.R.
    screw that game

    those two sites use a good number of the big games to mark their cards giving a good indication of their power in the real world.

    The biggest difference between AMD & nVidia at this point is that AMD cards don't take the huge performance hit for Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering. The nVidia cards have a little more raw horsepower, but that doesn't necessarily translate into an advantage when you factor in AA & AF.

    this review:
    http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/articl...50aHVzaWFzdA==
    has the real world performance testing you are looking for.
    Keep in mind that HardOCP does not do the FPS vs FPS BS that most review sites do. They base theirs off of real world game play and maximum playable settings in some very demanding games. Benchmark whores hate these types of reviews because you have to actually read the whole review and there is not such a black and white graph to compare with. But I think it is a much better way to gauge how a card will actually benefit me before I buy it.

    Well ATi will loose everytime at Crysis, just like Nvidia will loose everytime at Source games, so 3dMark is a neutral playing field.
