Re: Help: Odd colors in BF2
edit, nevermind,
I did some research, and honestly it could be a lot of things (argh I hate lots of variables)
1) Heat (though nvidia monitor shows low temps even under load)
2) PSU not strong enough on the 12v rail (mine is 28A on the single 12v rail)
3) Drivers, is latest the greatest
The easiest fix would prolly be the drivers - I only have to redo nHancer settings

Re: Help: Odd colors in BF2
I put in an older driver, until they fix this issue with at least the Half Life type games. I played Day of Defeat with the latest driver and the graphics looked like the matrix until I turned them up to medium. The newest driver can cause problems for some cards, I have a 7600 GS 512. Try an older 97. driver, easiest first step for process of elimination.

Re: Help: Odd colors in BF2
Hi again, I reinstalled the latest nvidia whql drivers. I thought that fixed the problem. It's been a week now and I've started to see the same bull poop.....
The temps are fine, it doesnt go above 51C according to Nvidia monitor while in BF2.
Could it be the PSU? Mine is here:

is 28A not enough for a 8800GT OCed?
I thought it was, maybe I read the label wrong when I bought my video card. In that case, I am screwed lol, won't be able to get any new components for a while....
If I ever were to replace it it would be with this one:

if it IS the power supply, and it seems like most other options have been checked, bios update, video drivers, etc... might I suggest overkill... an 800w vs a 650 or 700? I've had the ABS 800w for sometime now and it's been rocksolid performance wise

Re: Help: Odd colors in BF2
Today in age it's not really the total wattage, it's the amps on the 12v rail or rails that matters most
Some PSU's have single powerful 12v rails, like 60A etc
While other ones have 2, 3, or 4 12v rails. So I'm pretty sure that Corsair would do fine, as long as I'm not running a skulltrail setup lol

Re: Help: Odd colors in BF2
I'd like to revive this topic, because it's occurring again....
I cranked the fan speed up to 65% and for a long time, I didn't see the problems. But now I've seen the problem in Valve's Portal and BF2 still
The GPU temp is only 50 C when this stuff happens. I just have no clue what the issue REALLY is....
Maybe it's related to nHancer.... IDK

Re: Help: Odd colors in BF2
I've heard that. My card is the one that has a dual slotted cooler though. I've heard the single slot PCIe cards are the ones that were overheating quickly. Mine's running about 55C max load for a few hours with 65% fan speed adjusted via RivaTuner. Considering my last 6800XT ran 80C load lol...
I'm hoping someone somewhere will have had the same experience (with the frozen screen and purple and green colors).
