Help:TV/Monitor

Hey guys, im looking for a monitor that can serve as both a tv for my xbox and a monitor for my computer without switching cables all of the time (if possible I would like to connect cable to it as well for watching tv)... 20-30" screen size would be enough for me and a decent response time would also be needed as I use it for games as well. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean by TV for your XBox. Do you need a tuner for something (about the only difference now between an LCD TV and an LCD Monitor (not an LCD computer monitor but an A/V monitor)? What type of hookup are you looking for teh Xbox? HDMI, DVI, Composite, Component? Budget?

Most LCD TV's will work for you. My Toshiba LCD HDTV will work with three different HDMI sources. I picked up a $12 DVI to HDMI cable and hooked my computer directly to it (bypassing the 15 Pin DSub connector which only supports 1024x768).

Funny thing. I tried to hook my xbox up to my Monitor, only to find out through the lovely interwebz that you have to have an HDMI compliant monitor in order for your Xbox to work with your monitor. Not many monitors under 25" are HDMI Compliant. Just look around newegg for "Monitor HDMI" and find something that suits your budget/tastes. Your TV problem... I'm not sure how you can get TV on your monitor unless you had it connected to a tuner/box for cable.

I mean for my monitor to duel purpose as both a tv and a monitor if possible

------- I want to mount a TV on my wall and be able to play Xbox on it, use it as my computer monitor and if possible watch cable TV on it.

OR

Have a large monitor for my computer which I can also use as a screen for my xbox and watch cabletv on it ---------

AHHHH, I get what you're talking about now. We had a similar solution set up on our Plasma TV. Where we could have the TV set to one input, the Video for xbox set to another input, and computer set to another input. Hold on, I'll look this stuff up.

Edit: Well, now that I've jogged my memory, you're limited to whatever hardware the extra box has that works as your computer hooked up to the TV. As far as I know, you can't hook your original computer directly to a TV, but I'm going to go google it.

There's also a link to an HDTV converter, depending on what you want to hook up to your computer.
