Lets take for example the TTP site. They (The collective they of people who run the site and servers) make money to help pay for the servers we play on. So suddenly our bandwidth is capped and we as the collective players either don't come to the site as often or demand a lower bandwidth site. Either way, TTP makes less money to pay for the servers and suddenly TTP goes away because it isn't an economical business model anymore.

This is just an example, but one that applies to the internet as a whole. The bright side... WalMart will make a lot more money since we'll be going to stores to buy stuff instead of the internet.

It "won't work"? I guess that depends on what you think "the goal" is. But you are confusing the interest of hosting companies with the interest of ISP's. The ISP doesn't care whether or not you support clickable ads, and the hosting company doesn't care whether or not you have an ISP cap. I'm not really sure I understand your example.

And if a 250GB/month means you can no longer shop online, and now have to shop at Wal-Mart... then you do a LOT of shopping online (probably about 1,000x more than the average person) and have so much money you can afford to pay past the cap.

I play WoW/BF2 all the time, not much increase.  250GB on a 1.5 Mbps Modem would take 46 hours of straight downloading at full capacity assuming you are getting your theoretical bandwidth.  Your game on average takes up less than a tenth of that unless you run into a city in WoW.

Is it Gigabytes or gigabits?

My calculation was assuming bits. If its bytes, take my time x8.

Most routers have a log; I check our routers log frequently. We have a lot of computers, users, and file sharing via p2p and torrents in our house. We use around 70 gigs a month.

250 gigs is INSANELY huge (for now).
