    Need Phenom 9950 Cooler

I have a black edition and even though I upp'd to a 900 case it's still spinning up pretty fast. Anyone know a good cooler? Keep in mind looks are important

Zalman has always been an excellent brand. I have used it in the past, but this last go around I did not and it cost me a processor.

    Here is there product page:

More specifically, if I were you I would look into the CNPS9500A LED for looks and great cooling.

Oh and don't foreget to buy a tube of Arctic Silver 5, good shit right there.

Ugh, all of those say dual core... I have a quad core. I'm sure they would do better then the OEM I have but they aren't designed for quads.

The Zalman is rated to diffuse an adequate amount of heat. It was designed to work with older, hotter Athlon CPUs so I don't see why it wouldn't work for a Phenom... Keeps my Athlon X2 6000+ at 35C under load and 32C when idle (depending on the ambient room temp)

    Re: Need Phenom 9950 Cooler

There are many that are good nowadays. Thermalright, Zalman, Thermaltake, are all good manufacturers of air coolers. Check out their websites.

I have not looked into the liquid cooling much yet, but may in the future. Mostly for quietness with excellent cooling capabilities.

I know some of Thermalright products have been getting some monster reviews on it's Ultra-120 Extreme. Here are some examples and product page:

    http://www.thermalright.com/new_a_pa...ler_am2rt.html

    http://www.anandtech.com/casecooling...oc.aspx?i=2981
    http://www.overclockercafe.com/Revie...eme/index.html

It ultimately comes down to what you want to spend and what you intend on doing with your cpu (overclocking). With the new core designs in the 45nm range, you do not need as heavy cooling options as the old AMD duals at 95w and 125w unless your overclocking your quad.
