Hi, my name is Captain Grumpyfuck...
... and I have a bone to pick with Newegg.
So, Monday night around 11pm CST, I ordered a server chassis from Directron and a license of Windows Home Server from Newegg. Reasonable expectation: everything should ship Tuesday, right? No, apparently not. The bright side to this is Directron phoned me up at work and verified my shipping address was intentionally different than the billing address, then released the order for shipping. It went out via UPS Tuesday night and should be here tomorrow. yay!
Newegg? Didn't package the order until damn near 8pm the next day! Pacific! So, it took them until 23 hours later to slip a manual, license sticker and DVD into a DHL mailer and register it with DHL's network. Which means it didn't leave their California warehouse until Wednesday night. Which means I'm getting the 0.4 pound OS license Monday or Tuesday, well after I receive the 40.6 pound server on Friday!
Y'know, considering Directron's prices are damn near Newegg's and they ship out of Texas instead of California, I might be doing my business more and more with them instead. Not to mention that when I gave a different shipping address, they didn't just say "Okay!" and release it (which is convenient) or cancel it and demand or force the shipping address to match the billing address (which is far from convenient), they actually called me up personally and verified my intentions before releasing the order (which is fuckin' awesome and secure).
So yeah, Newegg makes me grumpy.

I've had good experiences with newegg.com, that said I've also been angered that I pay for expedited processing and shipping for like 2 day and it won't ship till the "2 day" mark and then gets here on the 4th, 1-2 days after it was NEEDED :3
I've never heard of Directron...google...

They still have the 8800GTX in stock! Granted it is $350+ on "sale"

I always pay newegg with the 'preferred account' which makes the 'rush order' thing free, they do state something like 24-48 hours to get shit out the door otherwise... Ive only had one or two things not packed and at least ready to ship out the same day as long as I order before 1 or 2 or whatever California time.
Ive bought from directron a few times. never had any issues, but also have never had to deal with there Customer Service, which i know from experience is top notch over at the egg.

I used Directron before, and they're pretty good. Being a resident of the state of Texas, paying tax + shipping usually outweighs the difference in shipping price with Newegg.
There was a place up near Chicago that I used to use before Newegg. Their prices were always pretty decent. A buddy of mine who was local to the place referred me...

sometimes you can find a good company through pricewatch. I found a great local company that I did business with for a couple years till someone fucked up their accounting, they started acting like a ponzi scheme using incoming new orders to pay for parts for shit they should have shipped last week and eventually went under.
I didnt lose any money but I knew the owner and while he was a good guy and was trying to sort shit out they did end up fucking a bunch of folks over near the end. Since then Ive pretty much used the egg for most of my hardware needs
