Need a comp for the family

I saw this on slickdeals and was curious to know if this was a good deal for a simple family computer. I don't trust myself enough just yet to build one (on my own), especially since I'm dealing with family.

All they really need it for is, internet browsing, school projects, minimal amounts of gaming (which don't require anything over a Nvidia 6 series (if that).

Yes, get a machine that someone else has to support for the family. That one will do just fine for everything short of gaming.

Actually since this is for family this would be the perfect time to build a machine and practice.
REally its not that hard so easy Mcstrange could do it. :10

    I second this.

The best way to learn how to build a computer is when using parts that are inexpensive. You will worry less about breaking something.

Well, I dont really have that much time to deal with it all either.....I figure for $439 (including s/h) that comp isnt bad, especially since it comes with a 21.5" WS monitor.

Meh, ive built several PCs for friends and family and having to support them is the real pain in the ass. If its not in my house I dont want to have to deal with it.
You really cant beat a simple dell for email and whatnot, especially if it comes with a nice monitor and os and whatever else they maybe bundling with it.

You get out of supporting them buying premade?! Impossible! I do all the reformatting, cleanup installation and transferring regardless of what the name on the computer is.

I built my last computer completely at Fry's. No shipping or anything required.

I recommended my parents and my in-laws both buy from Dell so I don't have to service the hardware. I can at least service the software remotely. Thank-you GoToMyPC.
