Eh? a good gaming PC can be built for under $1000. A great PC can be had for less than 1500 and in my opinion no sane person should spend more than $2000 on a PC.

If your building yourself start with Tomshardware.com and techreport.com for a variety of prebuilt systems at a number of different price points. For example the following comes in at 1150 and is a huge amount of gaming power:

Switch out various parts from there if you would like, say the Nvidia 295 or whatever instead of the ATI, add more storage space or a faster HD if you feel; hell throw in a water cooling kit and your still lookin gat a 1500 machine that runs anything you throw at with ease.
