Also: Yes, any PCI-E card will plug into your PCI-E slot. It may not be using the card to it's full potential, but it will plug in and work fine.

Another thing, is the 7900 your original card? I am trying to find your HP by processor type and other specs you listed.

No, when I first bought it brand new, I bought the video card on the same day and had them switch it out. The monitor that came with the system is an HP vs17e.

    Re: My computer

Unfortunately, on the general tab of properties, there isn't much else listed other than that it uses XP. I pretty much copied everything from there and put it in the first post word for word.

Can't open the case right now. I'll probably try that later...

    OK...

So even if that is not your specific model... I am guessing your mobo is this one:

    Re: My computer

    OK.

So because it is a special Mobo made by Asus for HP, there are no BIOS updates which is unfortunate. The fastest CPU it can support is the E6700 (2.6 Ghz). Newegg has no E6700s, and they are not being made anymore so ebay might be your best bet to find one. If the Mobo were supported like a real mobo, we could flash your bios and slap a Wolfdale 2.8 Ghz in there. But, because it is proprietary you are locked in.

I have some on ebay for the 150ish and up range

    As far as a GPU:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130434
eVGA GTX-260, $159.99 after mail in rebate. Comes with W@W.

    Bang for the buck.

    Re: My computer

Ok, I finally got around to checking on my motherboard. I used the program in the last post and it gave me these specs under the "mainboard" tab:

    Motherboard:
    Manufacturer: ASUSTek Computer INC.
    Model: Buckeye 1.05
    Chipset: Intel P965/G965 Rev. C2
    Southbridge: Intel 82801HH (ICH8DH)
    Sensor: Fintek 581

    Bios
    Brand: Phoenix Technologies, LTD
    Version: 3.16
    Date: 4/30/07

    Graphic Interface:
    Version: PCI-Express
    Link Width: x16
    Max Supported: x16

    Soy,
you mentioned that the fastest CPU it can support is the E6700?, where can I see this info for myself so I know how to look it up. This program doesn't seem to give the capabilities as far as processor size.
