    Mount ISO as a drive

Branching off of Kanati's most excellent tidbit of information...... I now have a lot of ISOs, but I am in class tonight and need/want to install software such as MS Project. However, I don't have any DVDs or CDs to burn to. So.... I found this instead. Works beautifully. Quieter than a real drive and probably faster since no moving parts, but I can't quantify that for sure.

    http://www.slysoft.com/en/virtual-clonedrive.html

Virtual CloneDrive works and behaves just like a physical CD/DVD drive, however it exists only virtually. Image files generated with CloneDVD or CloneCD can be mounted onto a virtual drive from your hard-disk or from a network drive and used in the same manner as inserting them into a normal CD/DVD drive.

Probably the best virtual drive software, Virtual CloneDrive allows you to enjoy the freedom of a virtual drive and is completely free

I don't know for a fact myself, but I have seen this comment often enough to make me discount Daemon Tools

    http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windo...windows-vista/

Daemon Tools - Well known tool, but the latest version installs spyware on your computer, and the old version doesn't work in Vista.
I've only been on Vista since the end of April, so I can't say for sure if that is true or not.

i use PowerISO to mount or burn my .iso's
    works everytime

theres a free trial at there site
    http://www.poweriso.com/

plus, unlike clonedrive, poweriso will read and write into just about any format, im not sure how many clonedrive supports but on the site it only mentions ISO, BIN and CCD

i say you try both before you buy

Hey Iron? that part that was in bold?

    COMPLETELY FREE

    :P

I don't care what anyone uses, I just share what I find to be useful and/or that has good value. Free is good.

Re: Mount ISO as a drive

I bought Alcohol 120% when it was on sale at some point got 2 serials for like $50, life time updates. It works, has support and it helps when I don't want to have all my game discs at school keep em on HDD and just mount em.
