Well if you see the fans spinning and any lights on the mobo on, then the compy is on.

I'm trying to figure out why you can't see anything on the monitor.

What exactly are you referring to as "screen of death"?

Fans turn on, power LED turns on, but you hear no mobo beeps?

    +1.

I'm not sure what is really going on. A BSOD would open up a whole new perimeter of possible reasons.

Is your monitor maybe saying "No signal" or something a long those lines. It's built into the monitor when nothing is to be displayed.

If your monitor isn't getting a video signal, I'd imagine it's an issue with the video card(s) or maybe the cables. If one of your existing 4850's from the old system works and you get a signal, it's obviously a video problem. It's possible you just got a couple of lemons... happens to me more often than I'd like (hence why I'm still gaming on my old box while I wait on the RMA from newegg to arrive.)

does the system have onboard video? if so use it and remove the cards to get your system up and running, then upgrade your bios and then try crossfire. A LOT of MBs out there say they support crossfire but what I have found is that they do but not with the bios that ships with the board. If you don't have onboard video then just install 1 video card until you get the bios updated.

The OP isn't even responsive, but I will add one more suggestion. I just finished reading a long thread on EVGA forums where a guy kept claiming his mobo and video card wouldn't work together, when I know they do because I have the same ones. Eventually he realized his monitor was not Vista compatible (something I didn't even consider as a possibility, obviously neither did he). Worth thinking about?

Re: Fresh Build No Boot HELP!

One of my clanmates recently found that his brand new monitor would not work with his ATI video card. He later found it was an ATI driver issue in Vista and hot fixes from ATI didn't fix the issue. His solution was to go back to XP.

Re: Fresh Build No Boot HELP!

What kind of monitor do you have?
what is the monitor input. DVI? VGA?
If it is DVI, check the style of DVI. if the DVI is different, then it wont work.

You may have to use a DVI-VGA adapter. I am using that for my compy.
