    Security Question

When running through my monthly listing of security scans, malwarebytes, spybot, avira, they all came up blank ... however then I did the following scanned with Iobit 360 security and it found a file named jester in the windows directory that it said was a trojan... well that got dealt with but I wonder, is there a file named jester in windows directory for anyone else? vista64 here.. it wouldn't be the first sign of a false positive and with multiple other tests before I removed it iobit was the only program that detected it btw

*nods* thanks, I can't figure out where it came from, other then various things like drivers updates, etc I haven't downloaded anything recently... the only thing I can figure is that when I was looking in craigslist for some furniture recently some ads wouldn't show the pictures... figured possible from that at least... but who knows

Can you go to file and see what the file extension is and the file path?

nah, that's the only thing I can find after a reformat even.. I'm mostly atm trying to figure out why after vista 64 sp2 now thta occasionally programs don't dissapear from the task manager (web browsers) now... infrequent problem that causes the browers to not respond when this happens... sp2 does not rock me so far :P

    Re: Security Question

When I said the world's out to get me, I should have been more specific... when trying to track down why my ps3 wouldn't connect to the internet I thought maybe I need to reset something on my network box a combo cable modem gateway... so I went to download the manual from linksys website and saw a welcome back teresa... (wtf?) I know no one has been in my apartment but I figured somehow through the wireless and it's 20 some odd random digit key... when I tried to download the user's guide I saw DEP has closed firefox to protect your computer... I've had computers for years and that part of windows has NEVER come up.. being paranoid I turned off the wireless part of the router and took off the antenna to boot, I've used multiple different scanners which find nothing and I havent' downloaded anything but game patches, adobe, java, avg/avast, etc... I'm soliciting suggestions as to products to try and look for things as the DEP notice has made me doubly paranoid

only suggestion i can think of is to go download hijackthis!, run the program and after it finishes (shooting from the hip because i haven't used it) you can go on google and find sites to post the blog and have security experts (supposedly) look at it and can tell you what needs to be removed and how to get rid of it
