I've got a Netflix subscription and I wanted to watch a movie tonight. I put it into my laptop and it doesn't even register that there is a disk in the drive. I click on the drive in my computer and it ejects the disk and tells me to load a disk into the drive.
What would be causing this? I tried with two of my three DVDs from Netflix. The third worked but I'd still like to see the other two.

Re: DVD Drive not recognizing disk
Read the fine print on the disc itself. It should say somewhere on there "Region 1" or "NTSC".
Region 1 is the DVD decoding region that encompass all of North America. If the discs are some other region (for whatever messed up reason) then your DVD drive that is set to region 1 won't be able to decode them.
THere are ways of changing the region coding on your DVD drive, but lets not go into that until we know for sure that the DVDs aren't region 1. I can't quite imaging that Netflix would screw up so badly that they would send the entirely wrong region discs.... it's quite a longshot theory.
