Re: Jinx and Co...
I have heard good things about Gigabyte x58 mobos... ASUS is not maybe the king anymore... I hear good things about EVGA, MSI, and Gigabyte alike.

Hmm, that is weird, I wouldn't get a board with 4x DDR3 slots, kinda odd.

Re: BigDOG, Jinx and Co...
JINX,
Gigabyte or ASUS?
Here is my build so far with the i7 from Microcenter @$199.

I have read a lot of good tings about the Gigabyte but the 4 DIMM slots confuses me. I think that either one will work great.
I am heading to Microcenter after work to pick up the i7 920.
Give me thoughts JINX and VEO... How about BIGDOG chiming in?
Looks like the entire system with shipping/tax/etc.. will run me about $620... Not horrible for every 3-4 years.

Re: Jinx and Co...
If you care at all about overclocking be sure to get D0 stepping on the CPU. It will say "S-SPEC: SLBEJ" on the label... but there is a chance your MC won't stock the D0. If it says SLBCH it is C0. It's still a good chip, but might as well get a D0 if you have both available to you.

Re: Jinx and Co...
O don't believe that the ASUS does SLI just Crossfire. I think that the Giga has both.
Also if the 1600 and 1333 RAM are the same price might as well go with the 1600 right?
Not sure but I am a fan of the SLI vs Crossfire and I will probably stick with the SLI.
Just bought the CPU online.
I will check onthe DO stepping when I pick it up.
Thanks again everyone and I think that I am going with the Gigabyte (It looks prettier with the blue RAM I am buying).
So Vain!!!

Re: Jinx and Co...
It can be tough to tell from the Newegg specs, but on ASUS site you can see that P6T does SLI and CF.

Probably same info for Giga board can be found on their site.
