BLU-RAY drive, connect computer to HDTV
Ok so does anyone else have there computer hooked to an HDTV. I hooked mine up and it sent my sound out through my video card. No biggie, but how do I send the sound back. Would it be good to buy a Bluray drive for computer, any good experience? Bad experience? I'm just kickin around thoughts and enjoying my Samsung 40" LED tv.

Re: BLU-RAY drive, connect computer to HDTV
Not sure if I understand your question correctly, but I might have the solution you are looking for. I am guessing you mean the sound output is going out your speakers on the PC and not the TVs speakers?
If so, go into your Sound/Audio options on the PC connected to the TV and set your sound output to be "Digital Out" or something along those lines. Let me see if I can find it again and provide a bit more details...

Re: BLU-RAY drive, connect computer to HDTV
I too have a machine I built for a home theatre box. Mine is going out via DVI for video and then just through the sound card to my receiver for audio. By far, the ATI cards are superior for this type of setup. If you get a blu-ray drive you'll need to make sure the system specs are up to it. x264 decoding using the processor can tax a pretty hefty cpu. The ATI cards and even the nvidia cards are getting a lot better at offloading the decoding of x264 though so as long as you have an avivo or cuda capable video card, you can get by with a slower cpu.
Like quick, I'm not sure I understand the question on the audio.

Re: BLU-RAY drive, connect computer to HDTV
When I connect the tv with hdmi cable via adapter to video card, it sends sound to the tv(stereo reciever) the sound from my sound card is shut off. The only way I have found to put sound back to my sound card is disconnect the cable. Its not a big deal I just was wondering how to toggle it.
I have a 2.66 intel quad core processor, 4870 gfx card, asus p5e3 deluxe mobo, xonar 7.1 sound card. Any suggestions for a bluray drive, specs of what to look for. Like I said I am playing with it just to see how the TV performs.
I will check to find a digital out option to toggle.

Re: BLU-RAY drive, connect computer to HDTV
There might be an option in the video settings that allows you to disable the sound over hdmi. I only recently switched to an ATI card and mine has no hdmi ports for me to check on that. You could use DVI if your tv has a dvi port. You won't lose much if any quality doing it, and you'll be able to use your sound card's output, which is easily split.
