    Toy time

I'm thinking of upgrading my computer monitor to a 40" Samsung LED LCD. Does anyone out there game on a monitor this large? Opinions welcome.

Here's the model for those interested. Samsung UN40B6000.

Don't waste your money on a TV for your computer, the resolution on TV's are still not up to par with monitors.

The resolution on the Samsung UN40B6000 is 1920x1080 (16:9 aspect ratio) which is really good for a TV.

The largest affordable monitor that I know of is 30" with a max resolution of 2560x1600 (16:10 aspect ratio).

In comparison a 40" monitor should be around 3456x2160 (16:10 aspect ratio), which is almost double of a 40" TV.

Before you decide on anything like that, you need to check A) whether your video card can run at such a resolution, and B) whether it could run at that resolution worth beans. For example, my video card could run at a higher resolution, but my monitor can't handle that; as I looked for a better monitor (Mine is a bit old), it occurred to me that I actually couldn't get something a great deal better because the video card would probably start wigging out if it had to run at its max resolution.

LG W3000H-Bn Black 30" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor
    2560x1600

You better have two gpu's for that resolution.

^Newegg is an excellent site for computer components/peripherals. I got every computer part I'm using now from it a couple months ago--They've got the Antec 900 case, Fatality sound components, all the popular things. And more than just popular stuff, too, there's a wide variety of things available there.
