    MOBO That I got

    $179.99 after MIR...

    1600 MHZ memory

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220365

    $85 after MIR

They look really good together (all blue) and they have performed excelent. I also bought this which is kinda cool for $13.00 and fits perfectly in the unused MEM slot.

What resolution will you be running?

You should go with will's setup mixed with a 4890.

Pop 'er open and have a look at the RAM. Folks tell me that works a lot of the time, and my brother actually fixed some serial Blue Screens of Death just by messing with the RAM and making sure it was in properly. Might take some effort, especially if your tower is in a location where it's not easy to disconnect and open, but it could save you the cost of other components. Unless, of course, you've decided on getting the components and you'll have to open it up anyway.

The problem, as I perceive it, with that suggestion is that I would have to shut the PC down again to do that. This morning it was crashing BEFORE it even finished the memory test and never gave me errors...which tells me it is probably the motherboard of the BIOS or the CMOS or something.

That's the theory I'm operating under anyway.

If you want to test if it is the RAM, you need to use only one stick at a time, and if you can get it to boot with one stick but not all, then you can isolate the problem stick that way. When you can get it to boot with all sticks, you can run Memtest 86+ overnight to see if they come up with any errors. I wouldn't be so quick to blame mobo... but I also like new PC's. :-)

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if your box is failing before the memory test, its probably not a memory issue. The test is being run from BIOS memory, a RAM error would allow the POST test to complete and spit out a code. Failure before that means its a probably BIOS. Cry You can try resetting your CMOS and seeing if it clears up, maybe its close to dying and you have some corruption in your BIOS settings.
