Ah hem, I guess I'll take that as a compliment...

The motherboard Will recommended and Jason backed up is indeed an excellent motherboard, afterall I have one myself. I just recommended the Asus board because it is overall a better board (if I wasn't over budget on my build I would've bought it). It's just with that sweet combo deal its actually cheaper to get the Asus board...for now.

As for picking out RAM, it really changes day by day, but Veovis is right you just need to watch the deals and pick a good set of 3x2 GB 1600 with low timings. It'll be a battle between OCZ, G Skill and Patriot for who has the best deal the day you buy.

Hmm, don't know where I got that name from LOL.

But yeh the RAM I got for $80 3 months ago is $120 right now. RAM price has always been volatile.

Order placed. I blew my budget a little by getting a new case with friendlier front inputs for USB and sound.

I got the i7 920, the ASUS motherboard. My current mobo is an MSI and it is crapping the bed on me, so I figure I'll spend the extra scratch and get one I am more confident in.

I got 6 gigs of OCZ Platinum DDR3 and an ATI 4870.

kept it under $800 total including shipping and used the TTP Affiliate link.

    REPRESENT!

My friend has one of those, it looks nice. I always assumed it would be too tight inside for a big aftermarket CPU cooler, but I just read the reviews and there are people with TRUE or Mugen in there, so it should actually work great!

I have the 1200, the big brother in the 300/900/1200 series. Huge for sure, but same basic case design I think.

I love putting together new computers - that new component smell? So fun.

I'll let you now how it goes.

My Corsair PSU came in a black velvety bag... just like a bottle of Crown (well, except for the not purple part)! It had a really weird rubbery smell to it.
