Consultant's New Build - project thread (help needed)
So, all my parts came in and here's what I've done:
1. Pulled PSU, HDD, and DVD-RW out of old computer for recycling in the new machine
2. Installed CPU & Cooler, RAM into the new motherboard.
3. Installed new motherboard into case.
4. Installed Firewire card and video card into new motherboard.
5. Connected all the power and related plugs (Front USB, front sound, system panel connectors.)
6. Plugged it in and powered it up.
Fans spin, HDD spins, CPU fan spins, case fans spin, but the monitor never turns on - the power light flashes like the computer is in standby. When I unplug the monitor, it changes to display the "No signal" graphic.
The case (Antec 300) has no "speaker" to speak of, so it is not beeping. I thought that was very strange.
Basically, it has power but is showing no signs of life. What should I do? I've never had this happen before but there is a first time for everything.
Got help?

You don't need a speaker on the case... most mobos have speakers for the POST beep.
Do you have BOTH power connections to the mobo made? The 24(?) and the 8 pin both?

Is the monitor plugged into the video card? If so check the PSU cord to the video card.
Had this issue on my last build, a $10 PSU tester showed that the PSU output to the Video crad was not sending enough/any juice.

Yeah, I just noticed that where the 8-pin is, it is actually a pair of 4-pin connectors, one of which was covered by a black plastic cover. I removed the cover, inserted another 4 pin connector (now having all 8 connected) and it still isnt working.
I took the speaker out of my old case and plugged it in here temporarily but it isnt working either, lol.
This is fun!
The good news is that I'm going fishing tomorrow so if it still isnt working I'll have time to clear my head.
