Plans to move to Windows 7
So I am looking at prices and versions of Windows 7.
Looks like I am going to buy Professional Upgrade. I believe the only component that is going to help there is the XP virtualization.
I plan on pulling out the dusty Vista 64 box, installing on my spare drive and then immediately upgrading.
Anyone see any problems in my plan. Specifically, am I being stupid by paying the extra $80 for the virtualization, because it looks like thats the only real feature I am going to be using.
I dont see any reason whatsoever to buy the full blown version.

And with my new computer I got Vista x64 Professional with the Windows 7 Upgrade to professional and he said that would be the best for gaming. And he says that 7 is better then XP for games, so I as well will be upgrading on the 22nd

Re: Plans to move to Windows 7
I am a little nervous on the whole Win7 (64) with BF2 1.5.
I have read plenty of problems with people running it. I'll still have an XP installation sitting here, but would like to move the whole operation to Win7 within a week of buying it.

Re: Plans to move to Windows 7
sorry to be the bringer of bad news but there is no direct upgrade from xp to windows 7. The upgrade is vista only. You can purchase an additional upgrade license and do a clean install of windows 7 from xp but the upgrade alone won't do it. In essence the "upgrade license" is simply a discounted license for the full install of windows 7.

Re: Plans to move to Windows 7
You CAN have a windows 7 upgrade if the XP version is installed on the harddrive. I believe it's the small print at the bottom of the update page. Vista is just easier, but the XP one you need to have it on the hard drive or something related to that. But yea it wipes you clean. But hey change is always yummy
