    SSD Tips for install?

Alright, I broke down and bought myself one of those snazzy solid state drives today. I want to make this my primary harddrive insofar as it will have windows and my most played games on it. After a lot of research I found this:

    http://www.buy.com/prod/patriot-memo...210566957.html

    Sequential Read: up to 175MB/s
    Sequential Write: up to 100MB/s
Now, I know random read/writes slow these SSDs down dramatically. I have read about disabling prefetch to speed things up but haven't found alot of other tips. Any input as to what I need to do to make this as fast as possible? Anyone using an SSD for their primary drive on a desktop?

    Thanks!

Use Windows 7. It auto-disables all the unnecessary features when you use an SSD for your OS drive and uses the TRIM function to ensure your drive performance does not degrade over time.

Only true if the drive's controller actually supports TRIM command. Many SSD's do not. OCZ just released a firmware upgrade for most of their drives which allows TRIM to work (this is a major milestone in the SSD world... I am not sure if they are the first but they might be). Some manufacturers still have this in the works, some have stated it is impossible with certain drives with certain controllers.

I'm pretty sure Intel drives support the TRIM command, at least the latest revision.
