Upgrading Windows? This is a must have site to reinstall your apps
http://ninite.com/
The easiest way to get apps.
1. Pick the apps you want.
2. Start your customized installer.
3. You're done!
Ninite runs on Windows XP/Vista/7 and works
in the background 100% hands-free.
We install apps with default settings and
say "no" to browser toolbars and other junk.
All we do is install the latest versions of the apps
you choose. Not even Ninite is installed.

Cool site, but I for one don't trust third party sites for sourcing things I'm installing on my PC. You don't know what they're going to slip you. I'd rather go to known trusted sites and get my software.
My reinstall procedure includes printing lists of what I have installed and securing the installers before I begin the process so that I don't have to necessarily worry about it.

I assume Cnet would make sure it's totally legit.

Eh... What would make it legit in my eyes is if this was officially endorsed by the programs that it's downloading/installing. Third party websites are responsible for more malware / spyware / crapware being installed under the guise of being a legit app. If you can't go to the main source, verify the MD5 of the software... you're never 100% sure. Then if you consider the website could be doing just about anything in the background. Maybe it's paranoid, but in this day and age... it's better to be safe than sorry.
