Blackberry Modem?

Has anyone tried this? How is it if you've done it? And how'd you do it?

I've got Verizon and I've tried a few solutions out there but I've not been successful at getting it to work.

I use my work BB as a modem in a pinch. It works fine for work related things. But is too slow to really do anything else. That is through sprint.

I've not tried to use my phone (HTC Touch Pro) as I do not have the additional data plan though VZW that would allow tethering. That is the one thing that I hate about VZW. Additional cost for tethering.

I use my storm when I travel for work as a modem. Turn it on and off as needed. With my business data plan it's only $15 to use it as a modem for a month and it's unlimited data. It's not as fast a true broadband but it beats the hell out of $9.99-$20 a day most hotels charge. I have mine with Verizon and you need to go to www.vzam.net and download the latest access manager software for your phone. Install it and tether the blackberry with the mini usb cable. Fire up the program and follow the install instructions, it will program your phone/software and then click connect and you are online. If you stop by the verizon store they will set it up for you. As a side note you have to turn the tethering feature on. It's not free. If you have the regular consumer data plan that costs $30 a month it's $30 a month to tether ($60 total). If you have the enterprise business plan it's $45 a month for data and $15 to tether (still $60 a month). They had a promo where you could try it for a month for free. Not sure if it's still going on. If you need to turn the service on log into your verizonwireless.com account and turn the feature on or call the 800 number or stop by the verizon store.

yeah they told me about using my storm to do this but the extra $30 a month made it not worth it right now cause I dont travel that much.

I only turn it on when I travel so I only pay for it when I use it. It's not a contract, it's a feature. You can turn it on for one month if you are going to travel that month. It's cheaper than the hotels.
