So i'm building a computer...
Well actually i haven't got the parts yet, thats why im posting here.
the plan is to take advantage of the sales at frys on the day after thanksgiving to lower the cost of this little project.
so why am i writing this here? well im stil trying to figure out what to put in the damn thing.
case=who cares, as long as it holds the stuff.
MoBo= really need some help here, one downside of meing a mac person is you never really get into the guts of the comp
HD= i have a spare .75TB drive i'll use.
Processor = Need some suggestions on this.
Graphics card = ? mayby a Nvidia 7600gt?
PSU= does it really matter, as long as it can handle the load? NOTErobly go with one built into the case.
Sound card=
network card= i have a N level wireless network so i'll need to match that.
am i missing anything?
pleas a little help on this.

Re: So i'm building a computer...
First off do you have a really strict budget or something? Let's start with the graphics. A 7600?, I don't recommend anything below the 8800GT and that is minimum. For power just make sure it handles the load but they don't come with the case. I picked mine because it has individual cords so you only have to run what you need. It cuts down on clutter in the case. Motherboard/processor depends on $$ you want to spend. I wouldn't worry about a sound card, onboard sound will be just fine.

Re: So i'm building a computer...
Crap. I just erased everything. Okay. Again.
Case matters. You have to have enough fan ports so you don't get too hot. Make sure they're BIG fan ports, too.
Power Supply matters. Enough power for fans, motherboard, DVD/CD drives, HDD, you see where I'm going.
Sound: Creative has good sound cards that are relatively inexpensive. Make sure it has virtual surround. Turns ear-buds/phones into... virtual surround. I have... well, it's pretty good.
Video: eh...... My GeForce 8500 GT is pretty old, but overclocked up 225 MHz makes a difference. If it's an Nvida chip, RivaTuner is a very useful overclocking tool. I wouldn't worry too much about it if it's just for BF2/2142. But better cards are lower now, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Proccessor: Mine is almost 5, so don't ask me. I have Pentium D 2.8 GHz dual core. It could be faster, but for 2142, 2, TF2 and a little L4D, if you don't mind low-med graphics, it's not too bad.
Motherboard: At least as old as the proccessor, if not older. Don't ask me.
NiC: I have wired. Not the person to ask.
You forgot memory?
DVD Drive?
Mouse?
Keyboard?
Monitor?
Speakers?
Bugdet and power supply are important.
Also, heatsinks, and fans.

MAX budget $2000
on the note of the monitor that will not be included in the
