Thats why they call him WileECoyote.

Good to know I can use my Ultimate Retail DVD with the Win 7 Pro key I just bought. I was having issues unzipping their file anyways.

    Re: Windows 7 Upgrade

I installed a 7 upgrade on my Dad's HP lappy today.

    FLAWLESS......ABSOLUTELY FLAWLESS.

All I did was pop in the discs from HP when prompted. I was prepared for a day of MS Office headaches and re-installing everything. Nothing. It saved everything.....shortcuts,settings,desktop,installe d programs (Photoshop with ALL of his pics)...EVERYTHING.

I was afraid to drive home.

I wiped the HDD on my laptop and used the student DL'd exe made into iso "upgrade" version with the key they provided. Worked perfectly as if I'd paid $200 bucks for the true thing.

    Re: Windows 7 Upgrade

Worked for me too Wile! I got my laptop upgrade key from HP along with some bloatware-integrated discs I had no interest in using. So, I had to do the following:

    1) Create .iso from retail Win7 Ultimate disc (which I use for my desktop)
    2) Modify it to remove "ei.cfg" file (this allows you select which version to install instead of defaulting to ultimate)
    3) Burned modified iso, ran CLEAN install, and chose home premium
    4) Used HP key, activated successfully (no online or phone stuff needed)

As you probably know, every version is included on every disc. This will allow you to choose which one to install, depending on which key you have.

Does that include 32 AND 64 bit on every disk?

No, there are separate discs from MS for 32 and 64. You either get all 32-bit versions or all 64-bit versions depending on the disc. Usually when you buy retail you get both discs. But with a laptop upgrade you usually just get one... I got the 32-bit version. However, a KEY is good for its relevant version on both 32 and 64 even if you only have the disc for one. I.e. a home premium key will work for either 32 or 64 home premium.

Oh yeah, I got a retail version for the House Party thing. I have both.
