So, I am in need of an upgrade for my headset/phones.
It cant be a USB headset otherwise I can't use it with my Xbox (http://www.astrogaming.com/products/detail/69/MixAmp/)
Im looking at
Sennheiser HD555, $80-100 + Zalman Mic $14
Steelseries Siberia V2, $90
Turtle Beach HPX, $60
Sennheiser PC350, $175
price is a factor (have to buy the $130 mixamp)
i like the hd555s because i can use them with my ipod and computer too
thanks

Re: help me with headphones!
That 1st option you have is exactly what I was going to say. I have the 595's with the mic that came with my old Siberia's.
Sennheiser makes some great headphones, and blow the Siberia's away. I had a turtle beach headset like that a couple of years ago, and I only used it for approximately 2 months before I had to switch.

Ive listened to both the steel series and the Sennheiser and the Sennheiser is better than the steel series but both fall short of these. The only thing that the Sennheiser does better than these is bass. The audio technica's are a little light in the bass but I used my x-fi's equalizer to make up for most of the low bass. However, this is a slight concession for the absolutely HUGE sound stage you get with the Audio technicas. The Sennheiser uses a 38mm driver vs a 53mm in the Audio technica. They also have better frequency response than all the phones listed.
They don't come with a mic though so you would need that but overall I think they are the best sounding, most comfortable, and overall best headphones ive ever used. I will say that if you are listening to music you want it to be from a high quality source because these headphones are very sensitive and will amplify the errors in low bit rate music.

Re: help me with headphones!
I got an unused Plantronics GameCom 777 headset if you are interested... I practically give away headsets, ask Consultant . Anyways, let me know...
I still love only one pair of headphones... No sound card atm, but it doesn't matter. Dont need no 5.1 bs either. SUPER comfy (like 5 hrs on my head and no idea they are even there), DSP, and most importantly they are CSS approved, by me...

Re: help me with headphones!
sounds like a recommendation against.
My next headset will be:

Beyerdynamic has a great reputation in the audio nut community and these puppies come pretty highly recommended in audio circles, well, recommended if your going to waste time on the headset instead of headphones and a clipon mic...
The USB thing is an adapter, it has miniplugs as its primary connection to your pc.
