    Help: ASAP-Reload Problem

Old Windows XP computer... reloading windows XP... It will NOT recognize the windows CD... now I have it where it doesn't even boot into the old windows properly... but it will read other CD's and boot into them (ubuntu, clonezilla, etc).

Any troubleshooting here? I need help very fast... so any reply is a good reply.

So you're saying your computer will not boot from the XP CD, but it will from other OS CD's?

Same here. Maybe the boot section of the disc is fucked or scratched. Even though, I've never had a problem like this before. I just got Windows 7 64-bit (had XP 32-bit on it before). I'd sell you my XP disc and Key for cheap, say... $40?

I have a disk, and key (and a digital copy of the disc).

The disk is fine, it worked when I installed it on my virtual machine on my comp (to test the disk).

Please help! (thanks for the offer hub, but I'll have to pass.)

We need more info. Where is the process stopping? What motherboard do you have?

Also, do you have a way to pull the hard disk, wipe it, put it back and try reinstalling? Also, wipe the master boot record while you are at it if you are gonna format the drive.

    Re: Help: ASAP-Reload Problem

It's the only desktop in the house.. so I can't pull the drive and wipe it (because I don't have another desktop )
    The mobo... Idk,
The process doesn't stop, it never starts. (where it should say press any key to boot from CD, it bypasses it).
And I am trying to format the disk.

I'm taking it you already went into your BIOS and set your boot priority to your CD drive, correct?

    Re: Help: ASAP-Reload Problem

Try going to your BIOS and set the only boot option as "Boot from CD" or optical... however your BIOS has it stated. Disable all other boot devices. See if it will let you in.

Do you have a laptop in the house? Can you try and see if the CD works on another system?

And FYI... this is a great reason to get a Thermaltake BlacX hard drive docking station. Pull a drive, plug it in, and access it on your lappy.
