BF2 and Borderlands minimizing in game

    Hi guys,
I just picked up BF2 and Borderlands for Christmas. Unfortunately, they minimize themselves every five minutes or so. I'm running Windows Vista, fully updated. Any ideas on why this is happening, or possible fixes?

    Have you turned off UAC?

What other programs do you have running in the background?

    Lets see...
Gamespy Comrade, Steam, a Logitech mouse app, Google Talk, Asus direct console, Asus data security manager, Asus live update, Comodo internet security, the Curse Addon Client (for WoW), and Realtek HD Audio manager.

I don't see anything on that list that I know of that would give you problems for sure, but it may be Google Talk. Try closing that down while you play and see if that is your problem. I have friends that have similar problems but for them it turned out to be Skype running in the background.

Nope, closing Google Talk didn't fix the problem, nor did closing Comodo Internet Security. I also tried reinstalling... no luck.

Turns out, it effects any full-screen game, not just BF2 or Borderlands... is there any way to force-windowed mode?

Several weeks ago I had the exact same problem, though the minimizations were not quite as frequent as yours. I never found out how to fix it; the problem simply phased out after a while. Give it a few days, and if the situation doesn't improve, try shutting off all background applications. If that works, just trial-and-error your way through them to find the troublemaker.
