Laptop suggestions?

Well with college starting up in a few months...I'm going to need a laptop. Now my sister asked for a desktop PC when she went to college, she had the choice of a desktop or laptop and she made her choice. I have no idea how much my parents want to spend so I'm going to say about 1000$ or less.

Now I won't be doing much gaming on the laptop, maybe eve occasionally or other MMO's....but that's probably it.

Any ideas? I don't know shit about laptops so I have no idea where to look.

Another thing, I'm taking a couple classes early thanks to a program so that's why I am posting this now...the classes start in spring so the sooner the better.

Preferably a bigger size screen, I have pretty bad eyesight so the larger the screen the better.

Well when I bring it to class, mostly taking notes...but since I'm not in college just yet I have no idea what they could be wanting to do while in class. I'm going to a community college for 2 years then transferring to either ISU or UNOH.

If I go to ISU I will be seeking a degree in criminal justice, if UNOH it will most likely be automotive/diesel technology.

I would highly recommend HP. you can custom build one on their website with the parts you want and if you do it online they give tons of free upgrades when you get certain parts. I've had mine since the summer and it's fantastic. It's pretty good for gaming depending on the parts you choose but it's overall just great all around

Actually yeah, that's pretty close to what I was aiming for. I'll bring it up with my parents tomorrow and see what they say...granted my dad will have to get a job first, he is on his 3rd interview at Clabber Girl tomorrow so it's looking good.
