Help BF2 Connect to Server Problems

I could you some help from y'all. Got two problems
1. My M90 Dell laptop is very slow and it takes 5 minutes to load the game. After 30minutes I loose connection due to overheating. Once I log off and return it works again but too slow. Any ideas? I got banned by TTP couple days ago because of not squading up but I took so long to load by the time it loaded I was already narned. After several attempts I am now banned. I have requested an unban but really need top fix these issues either way please help.

2. My AMD Dual coore 4200 with XP and 4 GB and 700 NVIDIA GForce has been working great I reloaded OS after drive issues. BF2 was wroking great but now I cannot connect to any server and the lis tis only 100 or so. Loosk like it is on 1.40 1.41 even thought the version is 1.50....... I already tried to clean the registry and reload Dvd, 1.41 and 1.50 and still not full list of servers and I cannot connect to the ones that are there. Do you have any ideas what I am missing?

While still decent, your 7000 seriest nVidia card is getting pretty long in the tooth. How old is the computer?

Also, you need to increment your patches: 1.41-->1.50. How are you at building your own computers? Depending on your budget, it may be time for a fresh, clean install of everything.

Laptop may need cleaning as they tend to acquire dust CO2 works best for blowing it out and if it is the sort with fans on the bottom something to lift it of the surface you have it once can greatly reduce overheating.

On problem people have been having with BF2 when they install it is that the BF2 voip setup program hangs making the install fail. If things seem to be going slow installing locate the voip setup in the processes and end it. You can then setup voip using the ingame setup. There is a thread about that somewhere.

Also as Pote says make sure you patched in order.

I did a format of ths hard drive an dreladed everything. It was working fine then all of the sudden the server list once logged in there are only 125 or so serves in which I get cannot connect to server erro eveerytime i try to join one. I tried a complete reinstall including the registry, loaded 1.41 and 1.5 version is 1.50-3183 or something like that. It used to work a week ago. I am stumped. My computer was custom built by a friend IT guy in Nov 2005. It is getting old but has 4 Gb. What video card would you recommend I like nVidia I might get a new hd and start again.

I was wondering about that since it has been getting worse for a while and I have nvere cleaned the cooling passages out yet. I like th eidea of the cooling fans and I will get the CO2 and Fan today to try it. I am back on TTP and had fun last night for a while.

I would also recommend using a gel pad instead as the head from the laptop causes the pad to melt, sucking all the heat away. Thermodynamics and chemistry actually DO serve a purpose...who da thunk it right? :P

If possible, ask your IT friend to take a look at it and see what he thinks. It doesnt sound like a hardware issue if BF2 is the only program your having problems with. I would also double check to make sure you didnt accidentally hit one of the filters that limits the server list.

I have tried reloading Bf2 Pnkbstr Service Pnkbstr Setup and a clean installincluding theregistry and cannot get PnkbstrB orK to getrunning hence not connect to server .ANy ideashow tofix this? My laptopis overheating after 40minutes too

What about other games? Could it be your wireless network being slow and PB timing out because of it?

As for your overheating.....have you tried popping the lid open and getting all of the dust out? Maybe you have a fan or two not working?
