Not sure where Sgt.TmH came from but he is spot on.

The ATI 5770 is a great card for your resolution like others have stated.


When you crossfire them they put out some serious power, just a thought for the future.

Been following this thread a bit looking for suggestions on my new vid card for my sick new build and have a couple questions.

Murry, I originally had slated the 275 GTX like you to alude here, but the price is a good $100 cheaper than the 5850 that you suggested via newegg.

I am planning on having a 23" main monitor with a 22" LCD HDTV as a secondary monitor. My plan is to be able to have full 1080P for the monitor and 720P for the TV, probably via HDMI. I was thinking of getting the 5770 until I read this thread, thinking that it might be too much for it to handle. However, the next step up I see, is the 5830 and 5850. The 5850 is frightfully expensive comparatively speaking. Should I go with the 5830?

I would go with the 5850 or the 5770 crossfire.

Which is better, SLI (in this case crossfire) or the single card? Also, it would depend on my mobo whether or not I should continue this patch correct? My last EVGA mobo came with the SLI connector.

I already have the HDTV. Why not extend the desktop onto the TV? I currently have it as a copy of the same background

A single 5830 would be a fine card for 1920x1080. It should push that resolution without much difficulty at all.

It could probably stand to be a bit cheaper, say right at 200 bucks, but that will likely happen once nvidia gets off their asses...

And you have to check on your Crossfire ability on your mobo, most do one or the other, SLI or CF, not both.

If it comes down to 2 5770s or a single 5850, get the single. Less headaches and less comparability issues.
