I need a new video card
I have been looking for a new video card and my brain can't keep up with all the cards that are out there. I presently have a ATI 1650 card 512 ram on it. I was wondering what cards you are using and what is out there with the best value of performance for the dollar. I have had some issues lately and on one forum it said my old video card was the problem. Can you give me some advice for a card under 200 dollars.

For under $200, I'd recommend the Radeon HD 5770.. it's the newest and best for that price range I think.

and here's a professional review:

Be sure to look at the benchmarks comparing other video cards, and look at all of your options before making a sure decision.
Good luck.Words are only limited to the effable, while the indescribable is merely found within ourselves.

Re: I need a new video card
If you want to future proof, I think ATI is the only company right now that has DX11 capable cards. Nvidia is still a few months out from revealing their next gen GFX cards, so if you like ATI and have the money, that's the way to go. I'm not sure what price point the newer ATI cards are at, but I've always found with the market that if you stay in the $140 - $160 price point you'll do pretty good. Anything less and you're paying for a product that is at least 6 month old technology. Anything more and you'll be getting the newest stuff, but at a higher price point. You can't go wrong with anything in that price range, at this point it just depends on if you have a card vendor preference, like XFX, BFG or Visontek or what not. The cards in that price range should all be using GDDR2 or GDDR3 at this point and have the latest Shader Models, which is 5.0 or 6.0 I think. Get something that's close to 1 GB of VRAM and a core clock that is over 600 MHz...

Re: I need a new video card
I prefer Nvidia, so I'm looking at this card:

ATI makes a great graphics card, but I've never had any luck with their damn drivers. I f-ing hate their damn drivers...

Amato, so long as you are going to replace it. Make sure it has 1GB of VideoRAM and at least be GraphicsDDR3. The GDDR3 {which means graphics DDR3} type of memory is a lot faster than DDR2 or GDDR2. I know, I've used them. So long as you meet that criteria, then either ATI or Nvidia would be a definite improvement and serve you well. I had someone
hook me up with a BFG Nvidia GTS250 with 512 MB of GDDR3 memory and it's really nice and plays PR very well. It only sells for around $130 or less, depending on where you get it from. I'm not complaining at all, it's a nice card and a definite improvement over my BFG 6800GT OC 256MB GDDR3 {which was over heating}.
