    Laptop for work

I am in need of a new laptop for work. I run autocad 2006, most work is done plugged in to ac power. Having a laptop is for convenience of taking my work with me. This will be my personal laptop as well. I am hoping to run some games on it as well. I am open to any retailers, newegg is my predominant choice for things like this. HD size is not a big issue, anything over a 100 is great. Price range is in the $1500 plus or minus. Doable? I want to play new games on it but its primarily for work.

I am a fan of asus. You have a costco in your area?

That is a good deal. It runs an i7 chip which will handle your work and games, and dedicated video. You won't get the greatest frame rates on the newest games but for $1500 you aren't going to get a cutting edge gaming laptop.

Update your AutoCAD. 2010 is really nice and easy to use. Especially if you do 3D work.

As far as laptop goes, I have never been a fan of laptop gaming. You cant really upgrade shit without ripping it apart. And that's even if you could take things out/off.

I do very little 3d, mostly shop drawings for manufacturing.

These are the two I looked at, my trouble is finding a comparison on the mobile graphics. 5870 mobile vs 360m. This wont be for gaming on a reg basis. Just for when I go out of town and such. I currently have a 6 year old toshiba and have loved it, excellent durability. I have some asus hardware and have seen some good laptops from them.

Not sure if that one is worth the price increase for having an ssd. I played on dell and built a really nice one for $2500, but rather save the money and just upgrade my box 5870!
