Comcast: Your opinion on them.
We are moving to a new house soon, and the only provider for internet there is Comcast. I want to know about how much you guys like them. By you guys, i mean people who have Comcast now or have had it before.
Specifically, i want to know how your experience is/was, how much you like(d)/hate(d) them, why you liked or hated them, and anything else relevant. We are using them to get Tv, phone, and internet, so anything you have to say about those services i would like to know.
Thanks very much for anything anyone has to say.

Re: Comcast: Your opinion on them.
We only have them for internet and i'm always dealing with it dropping. Their customer service are like people on auto-pilot. You'll call them about an issue and they will go through the most ridiculous steps, even after you say you've done it(reset the modem).
I'm currently trying to get my family over to Uverse. However, with their internet service you must have their TV service. At that point you might as well have their phone service for the discount. So its an all-or-nothing thing with them. My stepdad is having trouble letting go of Dish Network service because we figured out a way to hook up our RV to have it work with Dish while camping. So if he goes to Uverse we lose the Dish while camping.
If Comcast is the only thing you can get, it will do.

Re: Comcast: Your opinion on them.
I hate Comcast tbh My internet, when it goes down, it takes like forever to get someone to come out and fix it. Plus I heard theres a maximum upload or download limit. Ive never hit it but if there is that sucks too. And it depends how thick your cable line is. Its funny if theres a movie being downloaded on demand in my cable box my internet seems slower. O and one more thing the on demand thing is down often and very full errors. But Overall it's my only choice and I have to live with it.

Re: Comcast: Your opinion on them.
Besides the higher price's, I only have good things to say about them.
Comcast customer support and tech's have always been friendly and competent.
Poor Connectivity(Fixed 2006 2 days)
-Comcast came and replaced all of my coaxial connections and the splitter in my house no charge.
-Adjusted the signal strengths
Constant Modem Disconnects(Fixed 2008 2 months ,2009 a week)
-Adjusted Signal Strengths
Constant Modem Disconnects, Fluctuating Signal Strengths and Poor HDTV(Fixed 2010 a weeks)
-I replaced my old modem
-Comcast installed new line drop to the house
I have used torrents almost exclusively and never had an issue with speeds.
I tell all my neighbors to get WOW, though. :2

Re: Comcast: Your opinion on them.
had em for awhile, networking speed was "meh" and the TV service was okay...only complaint really was the price. They were fairly prompt on fixing things and such, I'd give their tech support a 5/10...nothin special, but could've been worse.
Switched to UVerse to get the package deal (TV, internet, and phone) and ended up saving quite a bit of money per month, and Uverse has been ok...their set boxes are kinda cheaply made and prone to needing replacement.....but it's cool cause the cat5 wiring in our attic was going bad, but I'm able to plug my computer into the back of my cable box with a short cat5 cable and get full speed off of it.
Uverse customer support is great though...anytime we call in a problem, they're out there same day or next....never cost a dime, the dude even gave me about 20yds of cat5 and an extra switch in case I ever wanted to get the attic wiring fixed (He would've done it, but my step dad said don't worry about it, I can run through the box just fine)
Another sweet thing about uverse is you can set recordings and watch them from ANY TV in the house. it's a shared DVR box, any other box can access it.

We had Comcast here in the Dallas area before they sold the market to Time Warner. When it worked (most of the time) it was great. When it didn't, their customer service and tech support people were idiots. Was having HORRIBLE drop-out problems and the tech support people were blaming the wiring in my apartment. They send a tech out, I describe the problem, and the tech told me they were upgrading the node for my neighborhood and they hadn't yet balanced the signals, and it should be fine later in the day. It was... but still really frustrating that the tech knew this, but their support idiots didn't.

Welcome to my world.
The only reason this happens is when Customer Service folk could talks to the techs, the tech were on the phone more answering questions then getting work done.

What are your other options? Cox? Time Warner? Verizon? AT&T?
