Here is as good a place as any
ASUS P5N-D Motherboard
Core 2 Duo E8500
2x Corsair Dominator Dual Channel Kit
ThermalTake CPU Cooler
EVGA 9800GT superclocked (for PhysX)
XFX HD-587X-ZNDC Radeon HD 5870 (Cypress XT) XXX Edition 1GB 256-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card w/ Eyefinity
2x ASUS VB195T Black 19" 5ms LCD Monitor 250 cd/m2 50000 :1 (ASCR) Built-in Speakers
Monitor Stand
Antec 1200 case
The CPU cooler is necissary since after the E6xxx series intel went to half height Fan/Heatsinks in the retail boxes. My PSU is a PC Power and Cooling 750W you cannot get anymore, and I cannot remember where I got my hard drives and DVD-RW drives from.

Re: Q&A for my new righ
you have an entire nvidia card running just for physx? is that really worth it? it seems to me like it has alot of potential but not that much support, games that run of proprietary physics or havoc physics for example. Do they tap into Nvidia Phyx even though your graphics are comming through ati?
at the moment my mobo only has one PCI-E slot built into it so yeahLast edited by Checkmate; 06-07-10 at 09:46 AM.

Yeah I did it because I was running an SLI setup before and it did not cost me anything, but it is not a requirement. I honestly do not trust the half height heatsinks from intel, I have had a lot of people I know tell me the have had trouble with stock setups and heatsinks. The Intel heatsink is an aluminum piece as well.

Re: Q&A for my new righ
Took me over TWO YEARS from when I opened this thread to actually get the money and get this thing built. So glad it's finally done! I've never built a pc from scratch before either. So of course day 1 and 2 were nothing but troubleshooting..and things not working right etc etc.
So scary when you think you've done something wrong ><

I have had some nightmare builds before. I have done so many now that I can pretty quickly troubleshoot and find out if it is a hardware issue or not. Having a test bed system is always a great thing as you know it always works.
Glad you got it up and running, and congrats on your first build! I am still running an i5-750 (actually 760) in one of my boxes at home, but it isn't really used for gaming. Great chip... not as good as the Sandy/Ivy Bridge i5 chips, but it does good enough for most gaming applications.

Re: Q&A for my new righ
Nice. The next build should be much easier now that you're a pro!
And now I'll make my usual pitch for the TPG Folding Team: http://www.teamplayergaming.com/pc-h...ding-team.html
When you're not gaming, put that bad boy to work in the furtherance of science! We could use the help."A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed."
