    Question Fans stay on

    OK,

I should know this but when I SLEEP the computer all of the fans seem to stay on. IS THIS A BIOS issue? I can't figure it out. When I Hibernate they all go off but when I sleep even the PSU fan stays on.

    Re: Fans stay on

Are the fans hooked into the Motherboard or are they hooked into the PSU. If they are hooked into the psu then as long as it is on the fans are on, if it is hooked into the mobo its probably a BIOS settings issue.

Standard Disclaimer: 150% of what I say is bullshit.

    Re: Fans stay on

All of the fans are hooked up into the MOBO and running off of the PSU cables. What really drives me nuts is that the PSU also stays on. Trying to get into BIOS. MSI MOBO.

You don't type <del> when during POST?

It goes straight into Windows 7 with no POST screen. I can't even make it into the BIOS. It doesn't give me the screen to hit <DEL>.

    Odd

Can you get any of the stop commands to work during reboot? i.e. F8, F2, F5?

Right after reboot do you get a Splashpage? if you do, press <tab>, to show post screen. Some of them boot rather quick, but hit one of the stop commands continuously when it starts coming back after reboot.

Also, i wonder if you have a MOBO that requires a jumper to get into BIOS. Which MOBO do you have?

MSI 770-C45 w/ a Phenom X4 CPU. It does boot fast. Much faster than my i7 but it also has a lot less programs installed as it is my 7 and 5 year olds' computer.

That's not true. None of my fans touch the mobo, they are all wired straight to the PSU. But when my PC sleeps, the fans power off.

EDIT: But, he did say his PSU fan stays on, which means the PSU isn't sleeping either. Which is different, I guess.

VEO is correct (never thought I would say that)... The PSU does not go to sleep when the computer is put to sleep. The screen powers down, the mouse and keyboard power down, printer powers down...PSU keeps spinning.

hmm...what PSU do you have? It wouldn't happen to be a OCZ would it? I have a 650W OCZ that has an issue with sleeping, a tad different from yours but for upgrade reasons (vid card + new CPU) I have ordered a Kingwin Mach1 1000W. So hopefully I can get rid of the intermittent, "whenever I want to sleep", crap this OCZ is doing.
