l4d freezes computer
Ok since the last patch over the weekend my computer has taken a dislike to l4d and l4d2. Before the patch i could run both with no issues, only the occassional sound distortion which i believed was cause between using vent and l4d2 at the same time cause it would fix after i closed vent. Now though when i tried to play last weekend the computer would freeze during events or finales. It would be alittle laggy here or there with some sound distortion with it which i think was just part of the lag then last night during the finale on The passing computer completely froze and to hard reboot. Happen again not even a min back into the game. this happen off and on all the time i played all weekend and even once in L4D.
But to note this does not happen in any other games. Only the L4D ones.
So anyone have any ideas how i can fix this. Also to note my graphics drivers are up to date.

Re: l4d freezes computer
First try lowering the graphics settings to the lowest possible settings and then play the game until it crashes. If it still crashes, then I need more info.
What were your specs again? Please include the windows version as well. Here's what the game requires:
E4600/64 X2 or better
7600GT/X1600
2 GB of RAM
7.5 GB of HDD

Couple of generic Steam troubleshooting things:
1) Right click on the game (in Steam) and select Properties. Click on the 'Local Files' tab. Click "Verify Integrity of Game Cache" If there's any fragmentation, click "Defragment Cache Files".
2) If it still locks up, Exit Steam. Go to C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86) on 64-bit. Go into the 'Steam' folder. Delete both '.blob' files and restart Steam.
