Wireless card loses signal, trying to fix it freezes computer

So I have this problem. Like the topic of the thread says, recently, at random times while patching FFXIV Beta client, my wireles card loses all wifi signal. When I try to right click->Disable or Right click->repair, my computer freezes with this wierd cluster of red and white pixels on the upper right hand part of the screen. I've ruled out FFXIV causing this, because it happened in the night while I was sleeping to test if it would happen.

The network card is a Realtek RTL8185 and updating drivers via windows update did NOT fix this problem. I am currently trying out official drivers and am waiting to see if the error happens again. MEanwhile, I am making this thread for /IDEAS/ on what to do next in case this doesn't work.

Things to know: REcently, I upgraded to service pack 3 XP
Before upgrading to service pack 3, this problem was rare, and could be fixed by repairing the connection.
Also before upgrading, a more common occurrence was a blue screen of death citing rtl8184.sys as the culprit

    Help :/

CAn you tell me which details would help or do I have to dump a full aida32 report?

Edit: asking because my computer decided to bluescreen with IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL or something like that and I'm currently rebooting

usually, when I see IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL it means something USB is giving you issues.

Start disconnecting non essential USB stuff to start with and see if that resolves your issue.
