Nexus One being killed?

I read on CNN that this next batch of googles phones will be the last...I wonder if they will still provide support for it?

They're the last to be sold in retail. Supposedly, they're going to keep them around to make available to developers since they're the only true open platform.

I would have bought it... but with ATT, i can't afford it =/
Hope it sticks around. It's nice to run free of carrier restraints

Google killed the carrier free version because they wanted to play nice and allow android to expand and destroy RIM and Apple, by being the Microsoft of the mobile phone world.

That and they had to make new handsets with the different 3G frequencies for each carrier. You can use the original Nexus One on ATT, but only at EDGE speeds.
