08-31-10, 10:29 AM #1Microsoft Office 2010?
Not to go into the gory details, but I had to lend my office 2007 disk to a family member. Their notebook crashed and they lost everything. He had the license for Office 2007, but he needed the disk to install the software first before activating the product key.
Anyways...
He had the disks for over 2 months now, and I need them. He called me and said he can't find the disks. So I am out $100 (what I paid for Office 2007 like 2 years ago), and I need office on my lappy! I am currently using Open Office, which is fine, but it just doesn't cut the mustard when comparing to Excel and Powerpoint. I do a lot of presentations for my work, and sometimes I like to work on them with my personal lappy instead of the work lappy.
Here is the latest deal from Microsoft for students:

So for $79.95, I can get the digital download, and for $12 extra, get the physical disk. Does anyone know of any better deal on Office 2010? I think I am going to take a jump...

Re: Microsoft Office 2010?
I bought Miscrosoft Office 2010 Professional from www.journeyed.com for $89. I think it's $99 now but that's the best deal I've seen.
You will need a .edu email address or fax/email them a copy of a class schedule or a report card to qualify.
I love Office 2010 btw, very nice this time around. Good job Microsoft.

Re: Microsoft Office 2010?
The only experience I have with office 2010 is with the Visio program. I upgraded my Office Visio 2007 standard to Visio 2010 Pro (bunch of added features specific to the program, not UI based). To be honest, Im a little ambivilent. I feel like I was happier to adapt to the 2007 UI than the 2010 UI. I feel like the location of "File" messes with my flow of choosing tabs with various needed buttons. After all, "File" is right next to "Home" with all the general editing and formatting buttons. I think the "File" button needed to be up where "File" used to be in 2003.
The other thing I dont like is that both in 2007 and in 2010, the default font is Cambria. I still like my Times New Roman. The one thing though that REALLY annoyed me and took me for ever to figure out was how to single space and remove the added space in between lines in 2007. Default, it was 1.15 line spacing, with an extra line between paragraphs. Does anyone know if they fixed that or changed that in office 2010?

Re: Microsoft Office 2010?
I bought windows 7 professional 64 bit RETAIL from the microsoft store. Called them up, gave them my school email and CC# and bam, digital download of the retail version for around 64.99. I believe this is the same process for Microsoft Office 2010. Thanks for reminding me... a friend told me that the deal was gone. Gonna get it soon . hopefully a better update from 2003 than 2007 was on my School provided Vista Tablet. Personal desktop is still running 2003.
I think you can change that in the default settings for 2007. I don't mind Cambria, but do prefer arial or TNR. The spacing thing is just located on one of the ribbons =P But going into default settings can save you time.Last edited by Bane; 08-31-10 at 01:56 PM.
