Getting BFG to honor a warranty
For those who don't know BFG apparently doesn't make graphics cards anymore
My graphics card(GeForce 9800 GT 1gig) recently crapped out. Overheat test, 2nd computer test, 2nd slot test, alternate port test, I'd done everything I can think of with my limited resources(and not necessarily in that order, mind you) and this card won't display a picture. Until I tried to use it in another PCIe slot, the monitor could see it, but once it was in that other slot it would not be recognized by the monitor even in the first slot. The PC is fine and I can boot up just fine to the desktop but I can't see anything so this card is as good as fried.
I called in JUST NOW(yes, midnight) and they told me they couldn't replace this card because they have no inventory and since they don't make any more graphics cards they are in a liquidation.
I know this is wrong, and I KNOW they have to honor this warranty, it's just a matter of saying the right things and not getting bullied into hanging up the phone
So what should I say?
I'm an ice fairy who can pound a nail in with a banana!

They stopped honoring warranties because they do not have any replacement cards. As a result you can only claim that you are one of their creditors. To do this you get a lawyer to file the paperwork and maybe when the dust settles you get a couple of dollars, not enough to get a new card, or pay your lawyer just a couple of bucks. The warranty was lifetime and the life of BFG just ended.

From where, they have declared bankruptcy, you are going to have to try to get your money back through those proceedings. As I said before, don't hold your breath, and you are going to spend more money trying to do that then buying a new 9800.

Conveniently, for BFG Tech, my 2 yr old 8800GTS just crapped out. Called their tech support and got the old "we're out of business but still providing tech support and no warrianties will be honored" line. Sounds like they bankrupted the video card part of their business but are still going to make power supplies, etc. This seems like bad business from a companiy I respected. Keep an eye out for EVGA, they could be next!
